Island History

History of Williams Island

Elegant resort trappings…spectacular views…charming villagescapes… rich history. Once solely the realm of France’s Côte d’Azur and Italy’s Liguria coastline, these amazing lifestyle elements have been a part of Williams Island since the 1980s.

Williams Island always has offered an exclusive, private way of life to those accustomed to the finest of things at one of South Florida’s most prestigious addresses.

Beginning with its first majestic residential tower in 1985 (4000 Island Boulevard), and continuing through its most recent addition – Bella Mare (6000 Island Boulevard), which made its grand entrance in 2005, Williams Island has consistently set standards for beauty, grace and quality.

Debuting in the 1980s and 1990s, panache and savoir vivre have infused this residential jewel since inception.

Sophia Loren, Miami Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson and Whitney Houston have all called Williams Island home. Australian tennis legend Roy Emerson helped found the Tennis Club. The Williams Island Spa, Marina and the Island Club emerged as the region’s ultimate leisure and social destinations. Residents today include entertainers, industry leaders, successful entrepreneurs, community leaders, noted philanthropists, sports figures, and those who simply appreciate perfection perfected.

Life in The Florida Riviera is meant to be enjoyed.

Residents engage in an amenity-rich lifestyle that encompasses a world-class European-style spa and fitness center, Grand Slam-inspired tennis center and inviting Café, a magnificent marina worthy of those in its sister Rivieras, and exquisite fine dining, private functions and entertainment in their very own Island Club – the center of Williams Island’s social life.

One final brush stroke is yet to be made. Bellini Williams Island (scheduled for completion by 2010) will put the last touches on this masterpiece. And Williams Island will be complete.
